Reporting on the situation of the Vietnamese community in Yunnan province (China), Vietnamese Consul General in Kunming Hoang Minh Son said that Yunnan province is a key locality in the Southwest region of China with a population of more than 48 million people.

Yunnan province also has a deep and close relationship with Vietnam. The Vietnamese community in Yunnan has about 4,000 people working, living, doing business and studying, including many multicultural families.

Vietnamese Consul General in Kunming Hoang Minh Son said that this working trip of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is of important significance, including creating momentum to promote stronger, more effective and substantive cooperation between localities of Vietnam and China.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Kunming and Yunnan are familiar places to Vietnam. This is where President Ho Chi Minh stopped and worked during his search for a way to save the country and lead the revolution. Currently, the relationship between Yunnan Province and the four border provinces of Vietnam of Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, and Ha Giang is good.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that this good relationship tradition has existed for a long time, especially people-to-people exchanges since the railway connecting Yunnan (China) with Vietnam was built in the past. As shared by the community, many Vietnamese people have followed this route to Yunnan to work and live, and many families have been here for four generations.

Emphasizing the importance of the railway in connecting the two economies, connecting people, and promoting people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Kunming is a meaningful place for the Vietnamese revolution. This meaning will be further promoted in the current period when the two countries are continuing to consolidate and promote the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and the Vietnam-China community with a shared future is developing more deeply, comprehensively, and sustainably to bring mutual benefits to the two peoples and two countries.

The Prime Minister stated that China is a neighboring country with a common border, a country having a close relationship with Vietnam. Vietnam always attaches great importance to consolidating and developing the friendly relations and cooperation with China, considering this as a consistent policy, an objective requirement, a strategic choice, and a top priority in its foreign policy.
