Emphasizing the significance of the visit on the two countries' 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership , President Vo Van Thuong approving that Vietnam always attaches to the relationship with Italy, including close cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

The President of the Italian Senate warmly welcomed President Vo Van Thuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to visit Italy at the state level. This is the first exchange of delegations at the state level between the two countries in the past seven years, marking an important milestone in bilateral cooperation, he said.

Ignazio La Russa emphasizes the friendship and solidarity between the two peoples, affirming that Vietnam is Italy's most important partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Italy supports Vietnam's role as a bridge to promote relations between the Italian Parliament and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.

Regarding the Vietnam-Italy strategic partnership, State President Vo Van Thuong suggested the two sides strengthen the exchange of delegations at all levels.

The two sides continue to coordinate and support each other at participating forums such as the United Nations and the ASEAN-European Union (EU) framework to jointly respond to regional and global issues.

The two leaders also wished to promote cooperation in education - training, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

Regarding the Vietnamese community in Italy, Senate President Ignazio La Russa agreed with President Vo Van Thuong's proposal to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to successfully integrate into the Italian socio-economic life, continue to be a bridge for the relations between the two peoples.

The President of the Italian Senate supported the economic relations between the two countries and said that there are more than 100 Italian businesses operating effectively in Vietnam.

Promoting cooperation between Lazio and Rome with Hanoi

In the afternoon of the same day, President Vo Van Thuong had a meeting with the Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri.

At the meeting, Mayor Roberto Gualtieri warmly welcomed the President's visit to Rome.

He expressed his admiration for the country and people of Vietnam in the struggle for national independence in the past, the outstanding development of Vietnam in socio-economic development today.

He appreciates the positive developments in the relationship between the two countries, and between Rome and Hanoi particularly.

The State President expressed his impression of visiting Rome, the world's famous city of culture, history, art and architecture on the occasion of the two countries' 50th anniversary of strategic partnership relations, and 10 years of strategic partnership.

President Vo Van Thuong appreciates the well-developed Vietnam-Italy strategic partnership in many fields.

He asked the Mayor of Rome and the city leadership to encourage cooperation between Lazio and Rome and Hanoi, contributing to deepening the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

The State President suggested that the two sides strengthen coordination in organizing activities in the field of cultural heritage.

This is to enhance exchanges and promote the culture of each country and city, thereby promoting people-to-people and mutual understanding.

At the proposal of President Vo Van Thuong, the Mayor of Rome said that Rome and Hanoi signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation, including heritage conservation.

Mayor Gualtieri affirmed his desire to jointly organize activities to celebrate the two countries' relations, and continue to work closely with Hanoi and Vietnamese localities in the city's strong areas such as economy-trade, tourism, education-training, heritage conservation, energy transformation, digital transformation, and innovation.
