Vietnam and Qatar Boost Cooperation in Crime Prevention and Control

Minister of Public Security General To Lam congratulated Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to Vietnam Khalid Ali Abdullah Abel on his term in Vietnam.
Minister To Lam expressed his belief that the ambassador, with his deep knowledge and extensive diplomatic experience during his work in the United States, South Africa, the Republic of Korea, and Malta as well as his important positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, will achieve success in his work in Vietnam.
The Minister said that the relationship between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Qatari partners achieved many good results, and cooperation activities have been implemented effectively.
On the basis of the "Cooperation Agreement on Prevention and Fight against Transnational Crime” between the Ministry of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Ministry of Interior of the State of Qatar signed in 2014, the cooperation between the two sides was expanded in many fields.
Currently, the two sides are continuing to coordinate in research and negotiation toward signing agreements such as the Agreement on Extradition and the Agreement on Transfer of Sentenced Persons.
These are important legal corridors to carry out further cooperation activities for security and order.
In order to promote the cooperation between Vietnam and Qatar to develop substantively, the Minister wished that the two sides strengthen coordination in building a long-term legal framework for cooperation in crime prevention and combat, criminal justice cooperation.
The two countries promoted negotiations and signed criminal justice agreements to create a favorable legal corridor for coordination activities.
They exchanged and cooperated in the field of economy-politics, crime prevention, and control particularly.
On the other hand, it is necessary to exchange experience in law enforcement, criminal information, and information related to methods and tricks of subjects using fake passports and papers to enter and exit.
Vietnam and Qatar organized programs and capacity training in migration management, border management, and illegal entry and exit prevention.
The two countries strengthened cooperation in the field of law enforcement, especially in staff training. They participated in training courses, conferences, and seminars to exchange information and capacity for law enforcement agencies.
Ambassador Khalid Ali Abdullah Abel thanked Minister To Lam for welcoming him as the Ambassador of Qatar to Vietnam in the context that the cooperation between the two countries, between the law enforcement agencies of Qatar and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, is constantly developing and expanding in many aspects.

The Ambassador hoped that, in his position, he would make efforts to foster the development of the bilateral cooperation and relationship between Qatar and Vietnam.
He also supported and acted as a bridge connecting the two countries, advocating cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Qatar's law enforcement agencies, for the national security, prosperity, and national interests of each country.
