Vietnam and Venezuela Seek to Bolster Cooperation

The visit aims to enhance the prospects for cooperation in economy, investment, culture, education and tourism between Vietnam and Venezuela, and strengthen trade in Vietnam's strong commodities.

At the meeting, the Governor of Mérida state, Jehyson Guzmán informed about the political, economic, cultural and social situation in the state.

He said the two countries have developed close cooperation in fields such as politics, economy, agriculture and energy.

Governor Jehyson Guzmán expressed his wish that Vietnam would continue to strengthen cooperation in trade, culture, education and tourism to foster the development of Venezuela and the state of Mérida particularly.

Ambassador Le Viet Duyen said that Vietnam strengthens bilateral relations with the Mérida state government in various fields, especially in trade in agricultural products and tourism. This is to strengthen the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Venezuela.

Within the framework of implementing economic and diplomatic activities, on the morning of April 6, the Embassy held a trade seminar for Vietnam's strong commodities.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Le Viet Duyen reviewed Vietnam's outstanding achievements after 35 years of renovation, becoming the 40th largest economy in the world.

Vietnam's GDP in 2021 has reached US$343 billion, per capita income is increasing. He also introduced the export potential of Vietnam's strong products such as phones, computers, machinery and equipment, garments and shoes.

As one of the major production centers in the Asia-Pacific region and in the world, Vietnam is currently ranked second in the world in rice and coffee exports; world leader in exporting cashew nuts, pepper and other agricultural products.

Vietnam is also the world's leading manufacturing and exporting center of high-tech goods, smartphones and electronic goods. There are many opportunities for Venezuelan consumers to use Vietnamese products.

Vietnam is also one of the major furniture manufacturing centers in the world. Venezuela and the state of Mérida particularly can foster the export of suitable woods for Vietnamese manufacturers.

In regards to economic relations and trade exchanges between Vietnam and Venezuela having positive changes, the information exchange and trading opportunities between businesses of the two countries are important, contributing to the comprehensive partnership between the two countries.

Also on this occasion, the Embassy held a photo and food exhibition to introduce the country, culture and people of Vietnam at the Mérida Art Museum. This contributes to increasing mutual understanding and trust, tightening the friendship and comprehensive relationship between Vietnam and Venezuela.
