On April 5, Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam received Karen Sandercock, first assistant secretary, Department of Education, Skills and Employment.

At the meeting, Karen Sandercock appreciated the fact that the two countries recently upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, considering this a basis for the two sides to strengthen extensive cooperation in the field of education and training.

Karen Sandercock emphasized that Australia is committed to accompanying Vietnam in the process of training high-quality human resources, especially through Australian training facilities in Vietnam, rich and diverse joint training programs between universities and research institutes of the two countries.

First Assistant Secretary of the Department of Education, Skills, and Employment Karen Sandercock said that Australia will consider the possibility of cooperating with Vietnam to train human resources in new fields such as semiconductor production, digital transformation, and clean energy conversion.

This contributes to ensuring the supply chain, serving stable socio-economic development, and protecting Vietnam's clean, green environment.

Ambassador Pham Hung Tam thanked the support of federal government agencies, including the Australian Department of Education, for contributing to the success of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Australia in March.

The field of education and training is progressing positively, as shown by the fact that Vietnam is the country with the 6th largest number of international students, with more than 32,000 students studying and living in Australia.

The Ambassador asked Australia to pay attention and continue to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese students.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam also discussed a number of measures to further strengthen education and training cooperation, especially in new fields such as semiconductor manufacturing, digital transformation, and clean energy transformation.
