Vietnam bagged two more Fast chess golds at Asian Youth Chess Championship 2016
(VNF) - Hanoi players bagged two more gold medals in the Fast chess event of Asian Youth Chess Championship 2016, being held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia from April 5th-15th.
They are Ngo Duc Tri (U12, Open, male) and Vu My Linh (U8 female).
In which, Vu My Linh demonstrated an impressive victory with all seven wins, for seven points. Earlier, she also pocketed a gold medal at the blitz chess event.
In the U12 open, Ngo Duc Tri, seeded 15th, successfully entered the top group. Finally, with the same six points/seven games, he overwhelmed Mongolian rival Tsog-Ochir Tengis to bag the gold medal by point difference.
Other Vietnamese players bagging medals include Le Thuy An (silver, U14 female), Nguyen Hong Nhung (bronze, U10 female), Nguyen Quoc Hy (bronze, U10 male) and Dang Anh Minh (bronze, U8 Open, male).
On April 11th, players enter the standard chess event. Drawing the participation of over 410 chess players from 18 nations/territories, the tour is pided into 12 age groups (male and female) following the Swiss system in the standard, fast and blitz events.
The 24-member Vietnamese delegation competed in all events, in which the world champion U8 Cam Hien will play in the U10 group./.
