Within the framework of the official visit to Vietnam, on the morning of January 9, in Hanoi, Speaker of the National Assembly of Bulgaria Rossen Dimitrov Jeliazkov visited Vietnam National University.

Sharing about the topic "Bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Vietnam through the lens of economic and cultural generations," Speaker of the National Assembly of Bulgaria said that generations of students from the two countries are a bridge to develop the good traditional relationship between Vietnam and Bulgaria.

In addition to the goal of economic development, the two countries always value cultural development, based on historical similarities. With education, Bulgaria wants the two sides to exchange teachers to promote the fine cultural and literary traditions. These are also the most basic foundations for a sustainable partnership between the two countries.

Bulgaria provided educational support to thousands of Vietnamese students during the years of post-war reconstruction. More than 35,000 Vietnamese citizens studied and worked in Bulgaria. Vietnamese students studying at Bulagria are the main bridge bringing the two countries closer together.

Bulgaria is one of the first countries in the world to recognize Vietnam's independence. In 2025, the two countries will celebrate the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.

The Speaker of the Bulgarian National Assembly said that Bulgaria and Vietnam are important factors to ensure stability in the region, maintaining constructive relations with neighboring countries, and participating in various forms of regional cooperation.

In recent years, Vietnam maintained a high and impressive economic growth rate in a dynamic development region in Southeast Asia.

Bulgaria continues to strongly support the development of relations between the EU and priority partners including Vietnam.

This is based on traditional friendship, trust, benefits from Bulgaria being an EU member, Vietnam being an ASEAN member, as well as Vietnam's increasing role in Southeast Asia.

With the signing of free trade and investment protection agreements between the EU and Vietnam, new opportunities are opening up for relations between the two countries. These documents set ambitious trade goals for the EU and Vietnam based on a common commitment to trade liberalization, open, fair, and rules-based integration.

Rossen Dimitrov Jeliazkov said that in the 20th century, the people of the two countries had struggles for independence and national unification. For many years, the two countries fought for many important national goals. Today, the young generation of the two countries has a great mission to build a better world.
