Vietnam Commits to International Cooperation in AEPF, ICAPP meeting

A Vietnamese Party delegation attended the fourth Asia-Europe Political Forum (AEPF) and the 37th meeting of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), which took place in the Czech Republic from June 10-12.
The fourth AEPF meeting saw the participation of representatives from 28 political parties, and experts from 21 Asian and European countries. Initiated in 2017, the AEPF has become an inter-regional mechanism for cooperation and exchange for political parties.
Participants to the AEPF discussed a number of emerging socio-economic issues in Asia, especially Covid-19-related experiences, globalisation, and future EU-Asia relations.
It passed a statement highlighting the importance of strengthening the partnership through the important role of political party cooperation towards sustainability and comprehensiveness.
The Vietnamese delegation led by deputy head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations Ngo Le Van, attended and contributed to the event.

Meanwhile, the ICAPP was set up in September, 2000 with an aim to boosting exchange and cooperation among political parties in Asia. After over 20 years of establishment, it has affirmed its role in promoting cooperation in the region through the role of political parties.
At the 37th ICAPP meeting held within the framework of the AEPF, participants agreed to work together to promote cooperation between political parties in the region as well as their collaboration with their peers in other regions.
On the sidelines of the event, the Vietnamese delegation took the occasion to have meetings with Jan Zahradil, vice chairman of the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade; ICAPP leaders; and representatives of participating parties.

Deputy head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations Ngo Le Van stated that Vietnam has always attached much importance to multilateral forums, including the ICAPP, saying the Communist Party of Vietnam will continue actively making contributions to ICAPP operations and prioritised orientations.
