The ceremony to debut and put into operation the Vietnamese Consulate in Nepal was held in the country’s capital Kathmandu on October 23rd.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Bhutan and Nepal Ton Sinh Thanh, representatives from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, staff from the Vietnamese Embassy in India, Nepali high-ranking officials, Nepali entrepreneurs, the Vietnamese community in Nepal, international friends and perse Nepali press agencies attended the event.

Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador Ton Sinh Thanh expressed his praise towards the opening of the Vietnamese Honorary Consulate in Kathmandu. He added that Vietnam and Nepal shared a large number of similarities in terms of culture and history. Over 41 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the relationship between Vietnam and Nepal has continuously been reinforced and increased.

“The opening of the Vietnamese Honorary Consulate in Kathmandu marks an important milestone in the relationship, friendship and solidarity between the two nations,” he said. “It will make more favourable conditions for trade activities between the two countries and contribute to protecting Vietnamese citizens who are living and working in Nepal.”

Ambassador Ton Sinh Thanh congratulated Dr. Rajesh Kazi Shrestha on being appointed as honorary consul in Nepal, showing his trust that with his experience in doing business and good understanding about the Vietnamese country and people, Dr. Shrestha would make great contributions to fostering the relationship between the two countries.

For his part, Dr. Shrestha said that it was his honour to be appointed as the honorary consul, pledging to promote the trade, investment, culture and tourism relations between Nepal and Vietnam./.
