Vietnam crowned champion at Cyber SEA Games in Indonesia

(VNF) - Vietnam has won the final round of the Cyber SEA Games just closing in Jakarta, Indonesia.

A total of fourteen teams participated in the event which saw the players compete in separate disciplines, including Forensics, Reverse Engineering, CND (Computer Network Defence - Hardening), and Pentest. Each ASEAN member nation is allowed to send 2 teams for the competition.

The two Vietnamese teams were Vietnam 1 the University of Information Technology (UIT) from Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh city, and Vietnam 2 the Duy Tan University from Da Nang city.

The Vietnam 1 team demonstrated its power by scoring at all sessions, finishing top with 2005 points, while the runner-up was Thailand with just 1505 points.

Mr Nguyen Khac Lich, Vice head of Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team (VNCERT) under the Ministry of Information and Communications, said that the two teams have the best players (under 30 years old) who are winners in the nation’s information security contests as well excellent information and technology students in universities/colleges.

The championships title of the Vietnam 1 team demonstrated the importance of investment in information and technology’s human resources sector, thus creating a strong impetus for the talented to conquer future challenges.

While Mr Dang Hai Son, head of Da Nang city-brand VNCERT, who led the Vietnamese delegation to this year’s cyber security competition, spoke highly of professional skills of Vietnamese players in the filed of information and technology security.

Vietnam and Thailand, the winning two teams from the Cyber SEA Games in Jakarta, will advance to SECCON 2015, a global Capture The Flag competition in January 2016 to be held in Tokyo, Japan./.
