(VNF)- The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho has ranked 10th in a list of the world’s most beautiful canal cities which is drawn up by the Mysterious World website.

"Waterways have played a crucial role in transportation throughout the history," Mysterious World said.

"The large Vietnamese city of Can Tho is located in the Mekong Delta in the centre of a network of canals and rivers. The city's total waterway length is 1,157km. The Hau River, the biggest branch of the Mekong River, runs along the north of the city," it added.

The site also highlighted floating markets, one of the main charms and tourist attractions held by the city, which is also an economically bustling hub in the Mekong Delta.

"Touring floating markets is the best way to know about local goods and the cultural aspects of the city," Mysterious World suggested.

Venice in Italy tops the list and is followed by Birmingham in England, Giethoorn in the Netherlands, Suzhou in China, Alleppey in India, Stockholm in Sweden, Bruges in Belgium, Bangkok in Thailand, and Cape Coral in the US.
