Vietnam, Iran's Mashhad Province Boast Economic, Trade Ties

Economic and trade cooperation is currently not commensurate with political and diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Iran, requiring them to make more efforts to promote this cooperation.

The Embassy of Vietnam in Iran and the representative of the Vietnam Trade Office in Iran have just coordinated with the Faranegaran Association (Mashhad Province Private Business Association, consisting about 1,400 companies and businesses) to organize a forum to promote cooperation between Iran's Mashhad province, and Vietnamese localities and businesses.

Attending, there were more than 30 businesses from Mashhad province and 10 Vietnamese businesses operating in a variety of fields. The forum was organized in hybrid format under the co-chairing of Vietnamese Ambassador to Iran Luong Quoc Huy and Chairman of the Faranegaran Association, Ardalan Roozbehi.

Speaking at the forum, Ambassador Luong Quoc Huy affirmed on the basis of good friendly relations as well as the potential and space for cooperation of businesses, investors, import-export of Mashhad and other localities and Vietnamese businesses.

The two sides have many opportunities for cooperation, especially in mutually complementary fields such as construction materials, agricultural supplies, food, industry, green agriculture, innovation, and sustainable development.

Besides, to strengthen bilateral cooperation, the Faranegaran Association proposed to open a representative office in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City shortly. Ambassador Luong Quoc Huy affirmed that the Embassy will provide maximum support to help the Mashhad Business Association connect directly with Vietnamese businesses and localities.

After the plenary session, the two sides organized meetings between businesses in Mashhad province and 10 local businesses and associations in Vietnam (B2B meeting) for the parties to directly exchange and seek import and export opportunities for coconuts, cigarettes, chicken, coffee, gemstones, electronics, shoes, instant noodles, saffron, carpets, asphalt, among others.

Previously, on January 29, the Embassy's delegation visited a number of private centers researching biology, biochemistry, tissue culture, and agricultural products using high technology; a number of innovation centers, software production, and blockchain technology applications.

Mashhad city is located in northeastern Iran, capital of Khorasan province, bordering Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. With a population of more than 5 million, the second largest after Tehran, Mashhad is one of Iran's largest cities, a transportation, industrial, and commercial center, famous for its pharmaceutical, textile, and food processing industries, and pharmaceuticals.
