Viet Expats From All Over The Globe Celebrate National Day
Welcoming the upcoming National Day, from last weekend, many events and activities have been held by Vietnam's expatriates.
The Overseas Vietnamese Association in Macau, China held a ceremony on August 27 celebrating the 78th anniversary of August Revolution (August 19) and the National Day (September 2), VNA reported.

Speaking at the event, Consul Nguyen Tuan Anh, representing the Consulate General of Vietnam in Hong Kong and Macau, hailed the association for its contributions to the development of the Macau Special Administrative Region as well as popularizing the images of Vietnam and its people to local authorities, residents, and working communities within the region.
Anh hoped that the association will continue to lead and excel in all of its endeavors.
Duong Trung Duc, chairman of the association, said since its establishment on May 8, 2022, the association has remained a strong and united entity. Its members have made positive contributions to the development of the homeland as well as the host country.
Vice Chairwoman of the association Tran Thi Gon said the event enables the Vietnamese community in Macau to reflect on Vietnam's history and turn their thoughts towards the homeland. It is also one of the activities to give the people of Macau a deeper understanding of Vietnam, and its culture and history.
Vietnamese representatives from 21 cities and provinces of Macau also joined the event.
At present, about 8,000 Vietnamese are living and working in Macau.

A similar event has been hosted in Budapest to celebrate the National Day of Vietnam and Hungary, drawing 150 delegates.
Addressing the event, President of the Hungary-Vietnam Friendship Association Kristóf Szatmáry highlighted the Hungarian people’s warm sentiments towards Vietnam and affirmed that the association will continue to contribute to the growth of ties between the two countries in all fields.
For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador to Hungary Nguyen Thi Bich Thao reviewed achievements in the traditional friendship and all-round partnership between Vietnam and Hungary after 73 years of the establishment of their diplomatic relations and five years of bilateral comprehensive partnership.
The diplomat affirmed that the bilateral ties are developing fruitfully on the key pillars of politics-diplomacy, economics, justice, education, and parliamentary cooperation.
She took to the occasion to thank the Hungarian Government for supporting Vietnam in training high-quality human resources and lauded the efforts by the Hungary-Vietnam Friendship Association in fostering people-to-people exchange between the two countries.
During the event, outstanding Vietnamese and Hungarian translators were honored for their work in introducing and promoting Vietnamese and Hungarian cultural values to each other countries.

Meanwhile, a national badminton tournament for Vietnamese people in Laos kicked off on August 26 in Vientiane.
The two-day event, which was organized by the General Association of Vietnamese people in Laos, attracted the participation of Vietnamese people and employees of Vietnamese businesses in the country.
Pham Van Hung, chairman of the General Association of Vietnamese People in Laos, said this is the first time the association has organized a national badminton tournament, aiming to offer an opportunity for Vietnamese people in Laos to meet and join in exchanges, thereby helping to tighten solidarity and improve the position of the Vietnamese community in Laos.
It is also expected to create a movement for them to do exercise, helping them have good health, he said.

Earlier, on August 19, at the football field of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship School, the Consulate General of Vietnam in the central Lao province of Savannakhet held a football exchange between the Vietnamese community in Savannakhet and officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
In celebration of the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, under the sponsorship of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of Korea (RoK), the Vietnam Football Association in the RoK launched the VFAK Yeongnam Cup 2023, drawing 12 teams from North Gyeongsang, South Gyeongsang, Daegu city, Ulsan and Busan.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Iran also organized a sports tournament including sports such as table tennis, badminton, futsal, golf, and tug-of-war to enhance solidarity and interaction between officers and employees of the Embassy and their families.
