(VNF) - The Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union on July 28th kicked off an exchange programme attended by 179 outstanding children from Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

On July 28th the participants offered flowers before the Ho Chi Minh Monument on Nguyen Hue Street in District 1.

The participants also visited the Ho Chi Minh Museum, the War Remnants Museum, the Independence Palace, the former Rung Sac Guerrilla Base in Can Gio District and Cu Chi Guerrilla Warfare Tunnels.

A cultural and art performance was held on July 30th at the city’s Cultural Youth House in District 1. Visitors to the event were treated to special dances and music performances by Vietnamese, Lao and Cambodian children, featuring the message of solidarity, peace and friendship among the three countries.

"The cultural exchange among children from the three countries, the third event of its kind, has been organized to promote international solidarity and friendship, particularly to improve the relations between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia," said Deputy Secretary of the HCM City’s Youth Union Pham Hong Son.

"In addition, it aims to introduce to the young delegates, from the other two countries, the history, cultural tradition and socio-economic development of Vietnam in general, and of HCM City in particular," he added.

The programme, themed “Circle of Friends”, is taking place from July 28th to August 1st with the participation of 179 children (include 50 from Cambodia, 50 from Laos, and 79 from Vietnam) from the three Indochinese countries.

The annual programme since 2011, was a useful playground for children during the summer holiday, helping to strengthen solidarity, friendship and the close relationship between the three Southeast Asian countries./.
