The Prime Minister congratulated Laos on its significant achievements in maintaining socio-political stability, national defense, security, and economic development. He also praised Laos for successfully chairing ASEAN and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in 2024. He affirmed that Vietnam always treasures and gives the highest priority to the great relationship.

Prime Minister Chinh conveyed greetings from Party General Secretary To Lam, State President Luong Cuong, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Laos' top leaders.

Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith, in turn, expressed gratitude for Vietnam's support during Laos' historic struggle for national liberation and in its ongoing development journey. He reaffirmed Laos’ commitment to close cooperation with Vietnam in building an independent and self-reliant economy.

The two leaders acknowledged the robust growth of bilateral relations across various sectors, including politics, defense, security, economy, culture, education, and locality-to-locality collaboration. They attributed these achievements to the efforts of both nations’ ministries, agencies, and localities in implementing high-level agreements, particularly those established during the September meeting between the two Politburos and December discussions between the two Party General Secretaries.

Both sides agreed to actively collaborate to ensure the success of the 47th session of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee and committed to achieving even greater results in 2025. They emphasized the need for breakthroughs in economic, trade, and investment cooperation.

Deputy Prime Minister Kommasith pledged to encourage Lao ministries and sectors to improve the investment environment, making it more favorable for foreign businesses, including those from Vietnam. He highlighted key strategic areas such as infrastructure, transport connectivity, and energy as priorities for collaboration.

He also expressed a strong desire for enhanced economic integration and proposed cooperation in strengthening the legal framework to foster bilateral ties for the benefit of both countries' citizens. Kommasith showed particular interest in Vietnam’s successful Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) model, requesting Vietnam to share insights and experiences that could pave the way for a Laos-Vietnam industrial park.

Prime Minister Chinh commended the joint efforts in advancing key projects and exploring new avenues for collaboration. He affirmed Vietnam’s readiness to encourage relevant agencies to work closely with their Lao counterparts to elevate the bilateral partnership to a new phase of substantive and effective development.

On behalf of Lao leaders, Kommasith extended New Year greetings and best wishes from Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, and National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane to Vietnam’s high-ranking officials.
