On April 24th, the Vietnam Macadamia Association was officially launched in Da Lat city in the Central Highland province of Lam Dong.

The association organized its first congress and voted in a 13-member executive committee, Mr. Duong Cong Minh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Him Lam Joint-Stock Company and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lien Viet Post Commercial Bank, elected as President. The executive committee also includes eight vice presidents and four members.

The Vietnam Macadamia Association represents enterprises, organizations and inpiduals producing, doing business, researching and training for the development of the country’s macadamia industry.

The establishment of the association is expected to contribute to building the modern macadamia industry, exploiting large and closed value chains, luring capital sources and human resources to create refined and abundant products from the high-value macadamia, developing logical plantation areas and expanding consumption markets.

For the 2016-2020 period, the association mainly develops macadamia in the Northwestern region and Central Highlands as scheduled, in close linkage with market signals.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s scheme, by 2020, macadamia plantation will cover 9,940 hectares in the Northwestern region and Central Highlands. By 2030, the area will increase to 34,500 hectares, including 7,000 hectares specializing in macadamia plantation and 27,500 hectares also cultivated with other crops. /.
