(VNF) - The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre for Zone 2 in Da Nang (Da Nang MRCC) has rescued a Singaporean sailor who has fell serious ill on the Cook Islands flagged vessel Sam Young offshore central Da Nang city early Sunday August 14^th.

In afternoon Saturday August 13^th, Lew-Sze-Kai, a 39-year-old Singaporean crewman, suffered serious impetigo since August 9^th.

The ship was sailing from the Republic of Korea to Singapore, which was about 100 nautical miles off Da Nang beach.

After receiving a signal, the Vietnamese SAR 274 ship, with doctors on board, left the local sea port to access the foreign ship for its rescue mission.

The patient received first aid then transferred to the rescue ship and brought ashore.

He was taken to hospital for further treatment in the morning of August 14^th.
