At the meeting, Phan Anh Son briefed the Sri Lankan Ambassador on Vietnam's socio-economic situation, as well as the functions, tasks, and organizational structure of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations. He highlighted that the Vietnam - Sri Lanka Friendship Association, VUFO's member organization established in 2014, actively contributes to promoting people-to-people exchanges between the two nations.
The President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations emphasized the historical and cultural similarities between Vietnam and Sri Lanka. Notably, Buddhist exchanges have actively taken place. Phan Anh Son believes that there remains significant potential for further cooperation between the two countries and hopes the Embassy will continue to collaborate with the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Sri Lanka Friendship Association to strengthen the bond between the people of both countries.
According to Ambassador Poshitha Perera, Vietnam and Sri Lanka have a good traditional relationship. President Ho Chi Minh paid several visits to Sri Lanka. There is a bust of Ho Chi Minh in Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka. The people of Sri Lanka have affection for the country and the people of Vietnam and highly appreciate the quality of goods produced by Vietnam.
The Sri Lankan Embassy to Vietnam agreed to maintain communication and cooperation with the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations in the time to come.
