Vietnam, Saint Lucia set up diplomatic ties
Vietnam and Saint Lucia have agreed to establish diplomatic ties at the ambassador level and apply the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations to their ties.

A joint communiqué on the establishment of the diplomatic ties was signed by Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations and Ambassador Cosmos Richardson, head of Saint Lucia’s Permanent Mission to the U.N., in New York on June 26th.
Saint Lucia holds an important position in the Caribbean and has participated in many regional and international organiations.
The establishment of the ties will create a firm foundation to boost multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries.
The event reflects Vietnam’s foreign policy of persification and multilateralisation of international relations, and attaching importance to relations with Latin American nations.
The communiqué was sent to the U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres to inform other UN members about the establishment of the diplomatic ties./.
