Attending the congress were Singapore Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam, Ambassador Nguyen Duc Hung, Vice President - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam - Singapore Friendship Association, Nguyen Ngoc Ky, President of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, and more than 100 delegates, representing thousands of Vietnamese people who have studied and worked in Singapore.

According to the report, the Vietnam - Singapore Friendship Association of Hanoi was established under Decision No. 6595/QD-UBND dated December 24, 2024, of the Hanoi People's Committee. The association participates in activities to strengthen solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore, and promote the people's foreign affairs of the Party and State.

The Vietnam - Singapore Friendship Association of Hanoi will maintain and promote relations with the Central Vietnam - Singapore Friendship Association, the Singapore Embassy in Hanoi, Singaporean businesses and communities in the city, and coordinate with state agencies and organizations to foster the traditional friendship between the two countries.

The congress discussed and approved the direction, and operating regulations and elected the Executive Committee of the Association for the 2025-2030 term, consisting of 25 members. Tran Anh Tuan, Secretary of the Son Tay City Party Committee, was elected as Chairman of the Vietnam - Singapore Friendship Association of Hanoi.

The orientation set out by the Association closely followed the Party and State's foreign policy and the city's socio-economic development program, in line with the traditional relationship maintained for many years between Vietnam and Singapore.

In particular, 2025 is the year to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Singapore, and the 30th anniversary of Vietnam joining the ASEAN common house.

He hopes that the Executive Committee of the Vietnam - Singapore Friendship Association in Hanoi will always be united, proactive, flexible, and creative in its activities, promoting the achievements. It also contributes to strengthening the friendly relations and understanding between the people of Vietnam and Singapore, and the overall achievements of foreign affairs and people-to-people diplomacy of Hanoi.

Singapore Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam said that economic cooperation and people-to-people diplomacy between the two countries are developing well. Vietnam and Singapore will upgrade their relationship to a strategic partnership, focusing on cooperation in innovation, cybersecurity, and digital transformation fields.

Singapore has long been a key partner for Vietnam as the largest ASEAN investor in the country, with more than 3,300 projects and a total investment of more than US$73 billion by 2024. The association is poised to play a critical role in expanding economic cooperation, promoting educational exchanges, supporting digital transformation, and developing smart urban solutions.
