Nghe An province’s Vietnam – Spain Friendship Association recently held the third congress for the 2019 – 2024 tenure. In the next 5 years, the Association will cooperate with Nghe An Union of Friendship Organizations to implement 5 key tasks which are: boosting external information propaganda, focusing on expanding the Association and recruiting more young members, updating the content and formats of people – to – people diplomacy, strengthening works with non – governmental organizations, and increase the Association’s budget.

The Vietnam – Spain Friendship Association of Nghe An province was established in 2006 and was one of the 16 member organization of Nghe An Union of Friendship Organizations.

In the last tenure, the Association played its role in strengthening the tie between Vietnam and Spain. Furthermore, the Association also made practical contributions to people – to – people diplomacy’s activities and promoting cooperation of two countries.

Via the Association, since the first working tenure, Spanish non – governmental organizations have carried out several projects in the areas ofpoverty – alleviation and medical equipments supplies in Nghe An as well as education programme on maternal and child healthcare.

In particular, two non – governmental organizations: Anesvad, Nesvad and Codespa sponsored millions US dollar thousand hundreds million to help reduce poverty, provide medical supplies, improve transportation and irrigation system that benefited local people, especially in remote areas.

Speaking at the congress, Secretary of the provincial agencies’ Party Committee Nguyen Nam Dinh appreciated the Association’s efforts over the years. He expressed his hope that the Association will cooperate with the Nghe An Union of Friendship Organizations to carry out 5 key tasks which are: boosting external information propaganda, focusing on expanding the Association and recruiting more young members, updating the content and formats of people – to – people diplomacy, strengthening works with non – governmental organizations, and finding way to increase the Association’s budget.

In the third congress, 19 new members of the Executive Committee were elected for the 2019 – 2024 tenure.

In the next tenure, Vietnam – Spain Friendship Association of Nghe An province proposed its goal which is proactively and effectively reinforcing understanding to contribute to promote the province’s international integration as well as tightening the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Spain.

In the congress, the Association also urged organizations and businesses to support the Association’s activities to consolidate and develop the strategic cooperation between Vietnam and Spain.

On this occasion, Nghe An People’s Committee presented Certificate of Appreciation to inpiduals with excellent achievements in people – to – people diplomacy’s activities conferred medals of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations to inpiduals with contribution to promote peace and friendship among nations.
