Addressing the event, Standing Vice Chairman of the VCSPP Nguyen Quang Khai stated that the United Nations (UN) declared and annually observes November 29 as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. This day serves as a reminder to the international community that the Palestinian issue remains unresolved and that the Palestinian people have yet to achieve their Inalienable Rights as recognized by the UN General Assembly. These include the rights to freedom, self-determination, independence, and the right to return to their homeland.

Nguyen Quang Khai read a message from Vietnamese President Luong Cuong to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President of the UN General Assembly Philémon Yang, Chairman of the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People Cheikh Niang, and Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas.

In his message, President Luong Cuong reiterated Vietnam's consistent stance on resolving the Palestinian issue through peaceful measures based on respect for international law and relevant UN resolutions and ensuring the legitimate rights of all parties involved, particularly the Palestinian people's inalienable rights, including their right to establish an independent and sovereign state that coexists peacefully and securely alongside the State of Israel.

President Cuong reaffirmed Vietnam’s strong support for and solidarity with the Palestinian people in their just struggle for independence and freedom, given the fact that escalating conflicts have claimed tens of thousands of lives, injured hundreds of thousands, and left homes in ruins.

Vietnam stands ready to join international efforts to foster dialogue, reconciliation, and humanitarian assistance for people in conflict areas, thus contributing to peace, security, and stability in the region and the world.

At the event, Head of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Vietnam Shin Umezu delivered a message from UN Secretary-General António Guterres. The message emphasized the international community's solidarity each year on November 29 for the Palestinian people's dignity, rights, justice, and self-determination. The UN Secretary-General called for support for essential humanitarian relief for the Palestinian people, particularly through the work of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Vietnam Saadi Salama expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of Palestinian leaders and people to Vietnam’s Party, State, and people, and to the overseas Vietnamese community, for their steadfast support of the Palestinian people’s struggle for independence and freedom.
