Vietnam Stands with the People of Cuba

The ceremony to celebrate the 66th anniversary of the founding of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces (December 2, 1956 - December 2, 2022) and the 62nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2022) took place on December 6, in Hanoi.

The delegates who attended the ceremony included Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Lieutenant General Victor Rojo Ramos - Member of the Party Central Committee, Political Director of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba; and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba in Vietnam Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen.

Lieutenant General Victor Rojo Ramos said that the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba were established with the main task of defending national sovereignty and preparing for defensive combat.

Over the past six decades, the special friendship between Cuba and Vietnam has been continuously consolidated and comprehensively developed in all fields, a symbol of the solidarity between the two countries.

Although the Covid-19 pandemic has caused a lot of negative effects, the period 2020-2022 has a very important meaning in the bilateral relationship between Cuba and Vietnam. This is reflected in the exchange of high-level delegations and a significant increase in diplomatic, economic, and military relations.

"The army and the Cuban people always support the solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba. We always want a world of peace and cooperation, where each country can decide its own destiny. So we always try our best to be able to create a better world," said Lieutenant General Victor Rojo Ramos.

In a show of good faith and understanding, Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet recounted the history of Cuban bravery. 66 years ago, the ship Granma carrying 82 elite children of Cuba led by leader Fidel Castro landed on Cuban beaches, intent on revolution. This is important event continued the path that founded by Jose Marti, Cuba's first freedom fighter. Ultimately, Fidel's comrades kicked out the colonial masters, ending five centuries of colonialism while gaining independence and freedom for the country.

The Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces were born in that glorious history. They have spent the previous 66 years fighting, building, and growing, facing multiple challenges. These organizations have always successfully completed the tasks assigned by the Party, State, and people. They have firmly defended their regime, independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. That has made an important contribution to the development of socialism in Cuba.

Vietnam and Cuba are two socialist countries with friendly relations and close ties in the struggle for freedom and national construction. Over the past 60 years, the relationship between Vietnam and Cuba has been forged through trials and tribulations.

The Party, Government, and Ministry of National Defense are always interested in the relationship between the Vietnam People's Army and the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces. They want the cooperation of these two forces to become one of the pillars, a model. It will contribute to deepening the good relations between Vietnam and Cuba.

"As close friends, comrades, and brothers, the Party, State, people, and army of Vietnam will continue to unite, support, and stand side by side with the people and the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces in the struggle for peace, national independence, and socialism," said Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet.

He expressed his belief that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba, the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces will continue to be more successful in the cause of building and defending the beautiful and heroic Cuba.
