The project has been implemented since 2017 with the goal of "Social organizations create a space for dialogue with the Government to contribute to the implementation of the recommendations outlined in the Commission's conclusions on the implementation of the Children's Rights stated in the International Convention on the Rights of the Child.

According to Ms. Le Thi Thanh Huong, Country Director of Save the Children, the implementation of the project "Strengthening capacity for social organizations on children's rights governance" has achieved many positive results.

Save the Children has deployed many communication campaigns and activities to change the awareness and practice of stakeholders on child protection issues.

Speaking at the workshop, Save the Children's Country Director Le Thi Thanh Huong said that ensuring children's rights is the foundation of all activities and work of the organization.

The project "Strengthening capacity of civil society organizations in child rights governance." Since it's beginning in 2017, the organization has achieved many meaningful results.

The first achievement is the role of social organizations recognized by the state and stakeholders in promoting and creating positive changes in policies, laws and ensuring the realization of children's rights. This recognition is reflected in the policy documents, national action programs, strategic plans for the new period, reflecting the voices of children and the opinions of social organizations on issues related to children.

The second achievement is improving the capacity in child rights governance. Many effective activities of the network have created important foundations in ensuring the implementation of children's rights, including giving comments and developing additional reports to submit to the National Committee for Children.

Thirdly, with the goal of ensuring the right to be protected from all forms of abuse and violence against children, the project always prioritizes and makes efforts to implement solutions towards the complete elimination of all forms of physical and mental punishment against children.

With this goal, over the past 5 years, Save the Children along with its partners have carried out communication campaigns and activities to change the awareness and practice of stakeholders on child protection issues and models of non-violent education.
The Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting (PDEP) is offered as an effective alternative to violent education. Thousands of parents have had access to positive discipline and have confirmed the encouraging change in knowledge and skills in non-violent parenting.
At the workshop, representatives of 3 partner agencies of the project were the Research Center for Management and Sustainable Development (MSD); Center for Rural Development in Central Vietnam; The Vietnam Association for Protection of Children's Rights shared experiences and lessons learned after implementing the project. Besides, they also shared the feelings of children and parents participating in the project.

According to her, there are 5 highlights of the project: 1) it has attracted the companionship of state management agencies such as the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Information and Communication, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, local departments and agencies; 2) Improve the capacity, knowledge and skills for social organizations and parents; 3) Activities are organized regularly and continuously; 4) The project implementation process, documents and products are digitized and diversified; and finally, 5) the project has attracted the attention of the press and businesses. Finally, the project makes an important contribution to the realization of children's rights in Vietnam.

"Vietnam has done a great job in protecting children's rights. However, in the past two years, due to the heavy impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is certain that the implementation of the Vietnamese children rights in the coming years will also face many difficulties. The Department of Children, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs always believes that with the companionship of a network of social organizations, in the coming time, there will be solutions to best cope with the implementation of the children's rights after the Covid-19 pandemic", Nga said.
