Vietnam to host first GEOSEA Congress this October

The Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will host the first Regional Congress on Geology, Mineral and Energy Resources of Southeast Asia (GEOSEA 15) on October 16-17.

The event is expected to draw the attendance of 500 delegates to share information and experience on geology, mineral and energy resources among ASEAN member countries.

The aim of the Congress is to foster an exchange of ideas, experiences, results, information and cooperation in geology, minerals and energy resources in Southeast Asia, plus of bringing together the experts from academia and industry all over the world in the field of geology and minerals.

The event also targets to promote ASEAN cooperation on mining in line with the ASEAN Minerals Cooperation Action Plan 2016-2020.

GEOSEA 15 will focus on 12 topics namely (1) Plenary Session; (2)Paleontology-Stratigraphy - Sedimentology; (3) Mineralogy-Geochemistry; (4) Metamorphic–Magmatic Petrology; (5) Marine Geology; (6) Geophysics; (7) Structural geology- Tectonics–Metallogeny; (8) Mineral Resources and Mining Industry; (9) Energy Resources and Development; (10) Hydrogeology, Water Resources and Management; (11) Environmental Geology- Geological heritage, Geopark; (12) Geo-engineering and Urban Geology; and (13) Climate change and Geo-hazards.

The Organizer has received 305 scientific articles including 127 ones from international delegates and 178 others from domestic delegates./.
