Vietnam, UAE People Hear the Beauty of Each Other's Music
Within the framework of Vietnamese Cultural Day in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2023, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy in the UAE to organize a national music art program to celebrate the 78th Vietnam's National Day and the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the UAE.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UAE Nguyen Manh Tuan emphasized that over the past 30 years, the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the UAE have developed positively in many political and foreign fields. transport, trade, investment, labor and tourism.
The UAE is currently Vietnam's largest trading partner among Arab countries in the Middle East-North Africa region while Vietnam is the UAE's largest partner in ASEAN. In 2022, the value of non-oil trade between the two countries will reach USD 8.3 billion.

In the nearly two-hour program, People's Artist Do Quoc Hung, deputy director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, People's Artist Pham Ngoc Khoi, vice president of the Vietnam Music Artists Association, Meritorious Artist Hoa Dang, Tan Nhan and other outstanding artists from the Vietnam National Academy of Music performed extremely delicately and skillfully classic concert works of Vietnamese traditional music.
The end of the program is a special highlight - a combined performance between Vietnamese artists and representative artists of the UAE National Band - one of the leading traditional bands in the UAE with a total of nearly 30 members who often perform at national and international events.
This is the first time in the UAE that the Vietnamese monochord and flute, along with Arabic instruments Oud and Qanun have harmonized familiar melodies to the people of the two countries such as Trống cơm (Rice Drum), Qased and Ah Ya Weilli.
The performances left deep emotions for the audience and participating artists. The head of the UAE National Band, artist Fadel Alhumaidi, said that he and his members were very impressed with traditional Vietnamese musical instruments.
"Your melodies are wonderful, we are happy to cooperate with you to discover the beauty of traditional music from the two countries," Fadel shared.
