The Sydney Morning Herald (SMH) - a famous Australian newspaper, selected Vietnam as one of the ideal destinations for the new year 2024.

The experienced travel correspondent, Brian Johnston, shares that January of the new year is the ideal time to travel and relax. The reason he advised readers to choose Vietnam for their journey is because of "diversity". Especially, the weather in Vietnam during this time is very comfortable and not too hot.

Boasting a long coastline, and rich and diverse natural and cultural resources, Vietnam is one of the natural beauty spots in Southeast Asia.

Visitors can explore a rugged mountainous region in the North of the country or move down to the Central and Southern to admire incredibly beautiful beaches.

Famous spots such as Ha Noi, the captivating old-world charm capital; Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and popular travel destination in Quang Ninh Province; Hoi An, the ancient town with the history of being the most bustling trade port of Southeast Asia; Hue, the ancient Imperial Capital with the famous royal tombs and feast and many more.

For those on a tight budget, Vietnam is one of the countries to explore since it is an affordable destination in the Southeast Asia region.

Tourism is always one of the spearhead economic industries of Vietnam that contributes a great amount to the GDP of the country. Post the pandemic, the Vietnamese government has made many efforts to encourage tourists to visit and promote Vietnam tourism worldwide.

For the first 7 months of 2023, Vietnam has welcomed 6.6 million visitors. In July 2023, the whole country welcomed more than 1,038 million international visitors, an increase of 6.5% compared to June. It is predicted that the figure will grow to 10 million by the end of the year.

With the non-stop development of tourism, the number of tourist accommodations in Vietnam increased, providing a wide range of segments serving different types of visitors.

With more than 3,000km of coastline, Vietnam is perfect for the kids to build sandcastles and snorkel while you bask in the sunshine. Discover serene secluded coves, white sands, and crystal-clear waters ideal for snorkeling. Just 175km to the south of Ho Chi Minh City, is Ho Coc - an enchanting, often deserted beach, offering a 5km stretch of golden sand, clear waters, and backed by fine dunes. The Binh Chau Hot Springs are located conveniently nearby in case sunbathing gets too much.

The famed Mekong River winds its way through Southeast Asia, flowing into the East Sea at the Mekong Delta just south of Ho Chi Minh City. The Mekong Delta allows visitors to look at an ancient riverside lifestyle and a habitat - more than 1,000 species of animals live side by side in what is described as a “biological treasure trove”.

As night falls, restaurants around the market open their doors creating a vibrant street side scene filling the air with the scents of wok-fried noodles, barbecued fish, and meats.
