At the meeting, Mrs. Nguyen Phuong Nga congratulated Mr. Fernando Apparício da Silva to be appointed Brazilian Ambassador to Vietnam. On this occasion, Ms. Phuong Nga introduced the ambassador the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, which is a specialized agency for people-to-people relations.

According to Mrs. Nguyen Phuong Nga, the Union now has 64 bilateral associations between Vietnam and other countries. Activities of the Union are very lively and perse, including anniversaries of diplomatic relations, exchanges of people, coordinating foreign aid, ...

Ms. Nguyen Phuong Nga said that Vietnam and Brazil have many things in common, such as football and coffee. Both countries are the leading countries in coffee export in the world, people of both countries have a lot of love for football.

Also at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Lang, Chairman of Vietnam - Brazil Friendship Association expresses his wish that Brazil will have more open policies for Vietnamese enterprises.

Having lived in the South America country for four years, Mr. Lang expressed his pleasure to witness a significant increase in the two-way trade between Vietnam and Brazil, from 1.5 billion USD in 2013 to 3.5 billion USD in 2016 and 4.4 billion USD in 2018.

It is known that 2019 is the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Brazil. On this occasion, Vietnam - Brazil Friendship Association will hold a seminar on investment cooperation for enterprises of the two countries.

For his part, Ambassador Fernando thanked the VUFO Chairwoman for taking time for the meeting. The Ambassador said that during this term, he will try to help Brazilian businesses better understand Vietnam, about opportunities and potential of Vietnam, thereby promoting trade between the two countries.

In addition, the Brazilian Ambassador also informed that Brazil wishes to learn from the experience of negotiating from Vietnam to prepare for their participating in FTAs.
