The Vietnamese women's team's main accomplishment in 2022 was their amazing performance in the final round of the AFC Women's Asian Cup in India and their superb success in obtaining tickets to the 2023 World Cup (expected to be held in Australia and New Zealand in Aug 2023).

Additionally, the squad led by coach Mai Duc Chung successfully defended their gold title in the 31st SEA Games in May.

The Vietnamese women's team will learn from their failure to perform well in the 2022 AFF Women Cup to keep reviving their human resources with new factors and make a significant transition to important tasks in 2023, including the Olympic Games (April), the 32nd SEA Games (May), and the 2023 World Cup (August). The team led by coach Mai Duc Chung is expected to reassemble in March 2023 to continue putting these new objectives into practice.

The Vietnamese women's team is still holding onto sixth place in the continental arena. The Korea DPR women's team, which was rated 10th in the fourth quarter rankings, remained at No. 1 throughout the top 10 in Asia. The following positions belonged to Japan (ranked 11th), Australia (ranked 13th, down one place), China (ranked 16th, down one place), South Korea (ranked 17th, up one place), Vietnam (ranked 34th, down one place), Taipei, China (ranked 40th, down two places), Thailand (ranked 41st), Uzbekistan (ranked 47th), and Myanmar (ranked 48th).
