Innara A. Guseinova, Vice-Rector for Project Work and Youth Policy, the Moscow State Linguistic University, formerly known as Maurice Thorez Institute of Foreign Languages (MGLU), desbrides Vietnamese alumni as bridges connecting Vietnam - Russia relations.

Speaking at the meeting of Vietnamese alumni of MGLU held on the evening of September 30, Innara Guseinova stressed Vietnamese alumni at MGLU in particular and those who have studied and are studying in Russia in general are ambassadors of the Russian language and culture in Vietnam.

Guseinova also hopes that the alumni will continue to contribute to preserving and developing the friendship between the two nations, especially the younger generation.

The MGLU has a history of relations with Vietnam for decades. Since the 1960s, the school has trained hundreds of Vietnamese language experts, many of whom have held high positions, and for which the school has been honored with the Friendship Order by Vietnam.

In 2017, the MGLU started to open Vietnamese language training classes, helping to strengthen the relationship with Vietnam.

The meeting took place in a warm atmosphere, with many performances by members of the Association of Vietnam Alumni once studied at MGLU as well as students of the Russian Language Department of Hanoi University of Business and Technology.

The alumni reunion in Hanoi also was attended by Russian Charge d'Affaires in Vietnam Ivan Sergeevich; Vladimir Murashkin, director of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Hanoi; Vu Xuan Hong, president of the Association of Vietnamese Alumni of MGLU, former president of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), along with lecturers and alumni of MGLU.

In his speech, Murashkin emphasized the development of intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding is the foundation for international friendship and cooperation. Practical contributions to cooperation between countries are made by the staff and lecturers of MGLU.

For his part, Charge d'Affaires Ivan Sergeevich Nhestero pointed out the tradition of educational cooperation between the Russian Federation and Vietnam continues to be strengthened, becoming one of the important pillars in the comprehensive strategic relationship between the two countries. Among the graduates from MGLU, many have been successful in their careers, contributing to the strengthening of bilateral relations.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Vietnam MGLU Alumni Association, shared that during his time studying at the university, he and many Vietnamese students not only had the opportunity to improve their professional skills but also received attentive care from Russian "mothers."

"Currently, Vietnamese language has become an official subject at MGLU, with 65 students studying. I hope that Vietnamese will become more and more popular and that many Russian students will love this language," said Hong.
