"The Vietnam - India Friendship Association of Da Nang city needs to gather and take advantage of the contributions of those who have lived, studied, researched, and understood India to expand, connect partners and act as a bridge in people-to-people exchange activities between Da Nang and India, towards establishing a branch of alumni in Da Nang," said Nguyen Ngoc Binh, president of the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations.

The president addressed the third congress of the Da Nang's Vietnam - India Friendship Association in 2024 - 2029 term on August 2.

Binh also suggested that the association step up information work on the association's activities on mass media; promote the role of Executive Committee members in flexibly combining professional tasks related to the association's activities.

The new Executive Committee needs to be proactive, creative, continue to innovate the content and methods of operation; strengthen the organization of solidarity, friendship and people-to-people exchange activities with India; contribute to consolidating, developing and deepening relations with Indian localities which Da Nang city has maintained relations.

Binh also stressed the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations will always accompany the Vietnam - India Friendship Association, ready to support human resources and finance so that the Association can operate most effectively.

The congress elected the Executive Committee and Inspection Committee for the 2024 - 2029 term. Nguyen Nho Khiem continued to be elected as president of the association.

According to the report at the congress, for the 2024 - 2029 term, the association will continue to strengthen peace, solidarity and friendship activities between the people of Da Nang and the people of India; promote educational cooperation, culture - sports, investment, connecting Vietnamese, Indian enterprises in Da Nang; mobilize those who have studied and researched in India to participate in the association's activities.

On this occasion, the association will compile a collection of poems titled "Spring Flowers", the content of which will talk about the love of nature, peace and friendship between the people of Vietnam and India.

After 2 congresses, up to now, the Da Nang's Vietnam - India Friendship Association has organized many activities, including a number of activities of high political - foreign affairs nature, contributing to the overall achievements of Da Nang city in the field of people-to-people diplomacy; practically contributing to being a bridge to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples.

In the 2019 - 2024 term, the association has coordinated with relevant agencies and units to organize many meaningful and effective activities. In particular, from 2022 to present, the association and the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations have coordinated with the Indian Embassy and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center to organize events to celebrate the International Yoga Day (June 21) in many forms and on a large scale, bringing practical effects and spreading widely.
