Special affection for Russia

I was a student at Moscow State Linguistic University (MSLU) when Vietnam was still at war. Upon arriving in Russia, I vividly felt the immense love and care the Russian teachers extended to us, students from a distant land. The Russian people are kind, gentle, and attentive, supporting us through difficult times.

Since 2019, I have received invitations to return to Russia and revisit my university. However, due to the pandemic, the trip has yet to be made.

When I heard about the reunion of MSLU alumni in Hanoi, I rearranged my schedule and flew from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi to attend. Meeting old friends after so many years evoked a flood of emotions and memories, bringing back the youthful days I spent in Russia.

MSLU is where I studied and my second home, where my love for Russia blossomed. I have since passed this love on to my children. My son was born on the anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany, an event that further deepened my connection to Russia. My grandchildren, though still young, have already heard stories about Russia from their grandmother.

More than 40 years after graduation, while many memories have faded, the affection from my teachers at MSLU remains deeply imprinted in my heart. I recall the extracurricular trips and the words of encouragement and care from my teachers, all of which contributed to my unforgettable years in Russia.

Today, we alumni keep in touch, organize reunions, and travel together. These activities have helped preserve our close bonds over the years.

Connecting generations of Russian language students

I began studying at MSLU in 2002. During my time there, the person leaving the most profound impression on me is my teacher, Strakhova. With her wealth of experience, she had a unique way of teaching filled with inspiration, making the classes come to life. For us, her lessons were not just lectures but felt more like intimate conversations. She often served tea and prepared snacks, creating a warm atmosphere.

Today's gathering has reminded me of the shared memories of many generations of MSLU alumni, and the collective experiences of those who studied in Russia. The Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association plays a vital role in connecting generations of alumni.

At the ULIS, there is a chapter of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association. This chapter brings together many teachers and experts from various fields, providing students studying Russian with opportunities to engage in cultural exchanges and gain more insight into this country.

MSLU and the ULIS have enjoyed a long-standing cooperation. In 2023, an MSLU delegation participated in an educational exhibition at our university.

On October 1, MSLU organized a teaching activity as part of the project "Russian in Vietnam: A Dialogue of Cultures." I hope that the two universities will continue to enhance cooperation and expand opportunities for Vietnamese students studying Russian to learn and exchange cultures in the coming time.
