The activity is being conducted through scientific cooperation between the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment and Korean BJC Company, with an MOU being signed between the two parties.

Speaking during the conference, Dr. Mai Thanh Dung, Vice Head of the Vietnam Environment Administration, said that Vietnamese Minister of Natural Resources and Environment and Korean Minister of Environment had recognised the efforts from the two sides in treating dioxin in land during the cooperation program between the two ministries in late 2014, including a project to be carried out in A Luoi district, Thua Thien-Hue province.

During the conference, scientists informed each other of their newest research results in this field as well as in dioxin existence in Vietnam and its consequences caused to the environment and people. In particular, they discussed technological solutions in treating dioxin, including treating dioxin by microorganism, as well as difficulties that needed to be overcome during the development of the project in A Luoi district.

Both the VACNE President and BJC President showed their determination in carrying out the project in A Luoi district. The two sides have built up research in treating dioxin in combination with upgrading the land, environment and increasing people’s standard of living.

After the conference, Vietnamese and Korean scientists came to A Luoi district to make land survey and take samples for pilot implementation./.
