Vegetarian Food Asia, the expo, marked its 10th anniversary at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, offering 6,000 vegetarian options and green living products. With over 300 exhibitors and 600 brands, there were taste-testing booths, yoga sessions, and craft workshops from March 8 to 10.
This diversity highlights the trend towards a healthier, more environmentally conscious, and animal-friendly lifestyle, which is increasingly gaining traction, especially in Asia.
According to Deputy Director of Cau Ke Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Processing Company Limited (VICOSAP) Lam Ngoc Tu, she brought to the fair 10 lines of wax coconut products, which were exported to the US, the UK, Japan, and China’s Taiwan and Hong Kong, so as to seek more vegetarian consumers.
Other Vietnamese products such as coffee, cashew nut, noodle and dried fruits also won the interest of Hong Kong customers.

Chief Representative of Guangdong Import-Export Association in Vietnam Kelvin Chau shared that Hong Kong people love to eat foods imported from Vietnam such as cashew nuts, coffee, and pepper because they have a taste and flavor that suits their taste.
He took Vietnamese firms to the fair so that they could have opportunities to access the Hong Kong market, and through which to enter the Chinese market.
Kelvin Chau said that for many years, the Guangdong Import-Export Association has always promoted connections between Vietnamese businesses with Chinese and Hong Kong businesses, such as bringing products of Vietnamese businesses into the two markets. Most recently, Vietnamese businesses participated in the China Import-Export Fair (Canton Fair) in Guangzhou.
In the opposite direction, the association also increased bringing Chinese and Hong Kong businesses to Vietnam to participate in exhibitions.
He stressed that Vietnam-China trade turnover in 2023 is relatively good, Vietnam's durian exports to China reached over USD 2 billion.
Guangdong Import-Export Association focuses on Vietnam's leading products such as coffee, cashew nuts, seafood, and pepper, to name a few, in the Chinese market.
Organized for the first time in 2015, the VFA has become the largest and most comprehensive showcase of vegetarian and eco-friendly living in Hong Kong. It has drawn the participation of companies from many countries worldwide, including China, China’s Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam.
At this year event, vegetarian, vegan and plant-friendly guests had the chance to explore the latest vegetarian movements in Asia with various seminars and workshops. In addition, the exhibition included a variety of vegan coffees, healthy teas, aromatic teas, juices, vegan wines, and other beverages, providing more choices for visitors.
It also offered an opportunity for producers and businesses to promote connectivity so as to launch naturally organic products to the market to meet the increasing demand of consumers.
Last year, the VFA attracted more than 52,000 visitors.
