Vietnamese Consulate General in Houston receives guests to mark National Day

The Vietnamese Consulate General in Houston, Texas, the US on August 28th organized a banquet for American and international friends on the occasion of 70 years of National Day, 20 years of Vietnam-US diplomatic relations normalization and five years of establishment of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Houston, Texas.

In the opening speech, Consul General Nguyen Van Hoa highlighted the spirit and meaning of the August Revolution and National Day.

He outlined the achievements accomplished by Vietnam over the past 70 years, great progress in the Vietnam-US relations in recent times, particularly the historic visit of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong to the US in earlier July of this year.

The Consul General emphasized the role of the office of Consulate General in Houston in promoting the political, economic, trade, health care, education relations with Texas in particular and South America in general.

At the event, Mr. Nicholas Papp, chief representative of the US State Department in the South America, congratulated all Vietnamese people on the 70th anniversary of their National Day and the achievements they have made in the process of construction and development of the country, including the good development of the Vietnam-US relations.

He also hoped that the relations between the two countries will further develop in all fields, for the benefit of the two peoples./.
