Vietnamese doctors trained in Australia

Assc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, Director of the Vietnamese Military Hospital 175 has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the University of Sydney on support for training Vietnamese doctors with Prof. Bruce Robinson, President of the Hoc Mai Foundation and Dean of the Medical School of the University of Sydney.

The Vietnam News Agency quoted Dr. Nguyen Hong Son during the signing ceremony saying that the Hoc Mai Foundation, under the sponsorship of the University of Sydney, had been established in Vietnam for nearly 20 years and demonstrated an increasingly important role in supporting the bringing of Vietnamese doctors to Australia to be trained.

The foundation has received great support from the Vietnamese Health Ministry. This year, the Military Hospital 175 has sent 8 doctors to be trained at the Sydney Medical School, the largest number of doctors ever from a military hospital joining the program.

According to Son, during the training course, the Vietnamese trainees gained useful knowledge from the medical English to access to clinical practice and new technologies.

The Hoc Mai Foundation which belongs to the Medical School of the University of Sydney provides advanced curricular in English by famous professors with an aim to increase the teaching and medical research abilities for Vietnamese doctors./.
