After more than 3 months of preparation, the Vietnamese Football Tournament in Kyushu region was organized by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Fukuoka in collaboration with the Association of Vietnamese People in Fukuoka (AVF), and the Association of Vietnamese Trade and Investment Promotion Enterprises in Kyushu (VITK).

This is the first time there has been a large-scale sports tournament for the Vietnamese community in southern Japan and become an annual event to create a healthy playground and promote community connection for Vietnamese people there.
The event attracted 24 Vietnamese amateur football teams from localities in Japan's Kyushu and South Central regions, competing in the mini 7-player football format 4 artificial turf fields of Fukuoka Catholic Academy. The tournament also had the participation of many Japanese amateur players who are colleagues, friends, or relatives who share the same passion for football.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vietnamese Consul General in Fukuoka Vu Chi Mai affirmed that the main purpose of organizing a football tournament specifically for the Vietnamese community in Kyushu is to create a healthy, advanced playing field, enhance solidarity, entertainment, and exchange, contributing to building a growing Vietnamese community in the Kyushu region.
Mai said that the success of this year's tournament will pave the way to a bigger one next year with more teams from countries in the ASEAN community in the region and local teams to be invited to join. Thereby, the tournament becomes one of the annual cultural and sports exchange events for young people from ASEAN countries and Japan.

The number of Vietnamese people living, working, and studying in the Kyushu area is increasing, by the end of 2023, it will be about 52,000 people, accounting for about one-tenth of the total number of Vietnamese people in Japan.
The Vietnamese Football Tournament in the Kyushu region has become an exciting sports festival for the Vietnamese community in its first organization. The matches are scheduled to take place on weekends in June, attracting thousands of Vietnamese fans and Japanese friends to the stadium.
