Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu stressed the significant growth in the number of Vietnamese students in this country in recent years. The contribution of the Vietnamese community to the host country has continuously grown in both quantity and quality. He added that Vietnamese students, interns and workers come to Japan play a part in the economic and cultural development of Japan and so creates an increasingly strong and united Vietnamese community.
Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu emphasized that in the context of globalization and increasingly deep international engagement, the presence and contributions of the Vietnamese community in Japan are becoming increasingly important. Each person is not only a cultural ambassador, but also a bridge that helps tighten the friendly relationship between the two countries. Hieu assessed that the contributions of each individual in the community contributed to enhancing the image of the country and the people of Vietnam in the eyes of Japanese friends.
In his speech, Hieu shared that the award aimed to honor positive groups and individuals who have devoted themselves to the development and cohesion of the community in 2023. He hoped that the Vietnamese community in Japan will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, creativity, and responsibility to continue contributing to the community.

In particular, the awardees are groups and individuals with practical and meaningful activities, from organizing cultural, sports, and educational events, to supporting communities.
This year, the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan decided to award certificates of merit to 16 groups and 35 individuals, including the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Japan, the Association of Vietnamese Intellectuals in Japan, and Vietnamese Youth Students in Japan, Vietnam - Japan International Exchange Organization. Other awardees included Vietnamese associations in localities such as Aichi, Toyama, Gunma, Ibaraki, Nagano, Hokkaido, and Shizuoka.
