Hacker Ngo Minh Hieu (Hieupc) has just been honored by Apple.

Apple has just released a list of security experts who contributed to this company in May 2022. This list is intended to acknowledge the contributions of security experts who have found and reported potential bugs in Apple's web server.

In the list of 43 names honored by Apple this time, is Hieu PC, a name familiar to the security community in Vietnam.

Hieu PC (or Hieupc) is Ngo Minh Hieu. He was once known as a hacker, for being behind one of the largest selling user identity systems ever existed.

The website Superget[.]info created by this former hacker has sold the personal information of more than 200 million Americans. The name Hieupc is known as one of the hackers causing financial losses for many Americans.

After redeeming his mistakes in the US, Hieupc returned home with better intentions. He became a cybersecurity and digital investigation specialist at the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC).

Ngo Minh Hieu regularly participates in community projects to warn and help people raise awareness about cybersecurity issues as a white hat hacker.

He said that he found two bugs at Apple this year, related to Apple online services. Both submissions of his report were acknowledged by Apple and one of them led to this honorable decision.

In the Apple list, Hieu PC was introduced as a member of CyKiller. Explaining this name, he said that CyKiller is the old name of the CyPeace project, in which he was the founder.

CyPeace's goal is to help individuals and businesses protect their brands from fake websites. These websites are used by bad people to steal other people's property, affecting reputation.

"The CyPeace project will help individuals and businesses learn the origin, check the safety of websites and applications, under the analysis of experts," Ngo Minh Hieu said.

Besides Hieu PC, in the CyPeace group, there is Pham Tien Manh (nickname Be May) - a new information security expert that has been honored by Apple in March 2022.

According to Ngo Minh Hieu, to ensure information security, Vietnamese businesses need to invest more in security as well as infrastructure. They need to focus on upgrading systems, software and hardware to avoid vulnerabilities. Additionally, enterprises need to raise employees' information security awareness to avoid cases of human attacks.

“Enterprises should spend part of their resources to invest in cyber security specialists. They can create their own bounty reward program, in accordance with business criteria to attract white-hat hackers to participate in finding bugs. This is also how big technology companies do to take advantage of the brainpower of white hat hackers to patch their products,” he said.
