Vietnamese language will be taught in Taiwan's schools
From 2018, Vietnamese language will be taught to students in Taiwan as a foreign language in official curriculum from first year of primary school to final year of high school, affirmed by Ou Chi Shi, secretary of the office’s education pision of Taiwan.
According to him, textbook preparation are almost completed, thank to the help of Vietnamese research centers and the Vietnamese language faculty in local universities. The secretary added that exchange programs between Taiwan's education universities and their Vietnamese counterparts are accelerated in order to provide Taiwan with sufficient teaching staff for academic year 2018.
As reported by the Vietnam national television, in September 2016, approximately 100,000 Vietnamese brides are living in Taiwan, about 70 percent of whom have obtained Taiwanese citizenship. The estimated number of children born from Vietnamese-Taiwanese marriages is 80,000, currently accounts for 40.7 percent of dual citizenship children on the island. Therefore, the presence of Vietnamese language at schools is expected to form a strong bond between mixed-blood children and their motherland./.
