(VNF) – The Charity Run Vietnam – Singapore Friendship 2018 was held on January 27 in Hanoi to celebrate the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations establishment.

The programme was launched by the Embassy of Singapore in Vietnam, in coordination with the Vietnam – Singapore Friendship Association. It was one of the series of activities to mark the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations (August 1, 1973-2018).

Chairman of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations, Hoang Binh Quan; Vice Minister of Labour, Invalid and Social Affairs, Dao Hong Lan, Head of the Prime Minister's Economics Advisory Board, President of the Vietnam - Singapore Friendship Association, Vu Viet Ngoan and Ambassador of Singapore to Vietnam, Catherine Wong attended the event.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Ambassador Catherine Wong expressed the honor to welcome the participants from the two countries to the special event, hoping the Charity Run will contribute to the development in bilateral ties shared by two countries.

Vice Minister of the Ministry of Labor, War-Invalids and Social Affairs, Dao Hong Lan, for her part, spoke highly about the significance of the Charity Run and its practical contribution to the consolidation of mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of Singapore and Vietnam.

On the occasion, Ambassador Wong presented USD 80,000 (VND 1.8 billion) to the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC). The cash gift, sponsored by Vietnamese and Singaporean enterprises, will be used to assist NFVC in building infrastructures for a primary school in the mountainous province of Tuyen Quang./.
