From April 21-26 in Shenzhen (China), the International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad (IMO) 2024, the 58th of ít kind, took place. This year's tournament attracted a record-breaking cohort of 198 schoolchildren from 26 countries. Continuing its tradition of nurturing young talent in chemistry, the IMO 2024 serves as a platform for gifted and innovative students to demonstrate their passion and expertise.

The competition is organized in three rounds, 5 hours per round. In the first round, students take a theory test consisting of 8 lessons, each worth 10 points. The maximum score for this round is 80 points.

The second round of theoretical exams includes 5 fields (physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, life chemistry and polymers). Each field has 3 exam papers, from which contestants can choose to take. area. The score for each second round is 15 points. The maximum score in this round is 75 points.

In round 3, students take a practice test that usually consists of 3 parts, each worths 25 points. The maximum score for the practice round is 75 points.
