Wise and flexible decisions lead to success
According to Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén, wise and flexible decisions of the Party and Government are the factors leading to Vietnam's success in maintaining macroeconomic stability and ensuring the balance of the economy.
In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic still having a heavy impact on the global scale, Hernández said that the Vietnamese political system was still making tireless efforts to ensure an adequate supply of vaccines and achieve high vaccination coverage. This played an important role in helping Vietnam realize its sustainable development goals and economic development plan.
The Cuban diplomat also appreciated Vietnam's consistency and perseverance in implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, in which foreign policy aims to ensure security and peace, as well as create favorable conditions for economic development and attracting foreign investment.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's message on the direction of diplomacy in his speech at the first National Conference on Foreign Affairs recently demonstrated the acumen of Vietnamese leaders to rise to challenges in the context of changes on a global scale.
Referring to the relationship between the two countries, Hernández affirmed that in the context of the pandemic, comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba was even stronger, and reflected in mutual support, both materially and spiritually.
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc's official visit to Cuba in September has highlighted the special relationship between the two countries, demonstrating Vietnam's strong support for Cuba in the current challenging period.
During this trip, on behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc donated 5,000 tons of rice and some medical equipment to the Cuban people. Cuba has also provided Vietnam with 5 million doses of vaccine against Covid-19 under anagreement signed by the two sides.
The results of the visit contributed to the overall success of Vietnam's diplomacy in enhancing the prestige and position of Vietnam in the international arena.
In addition, it promoted the implementation of the foreign policy set out at the 13th Party Congress, enlisting the practical and effective support of the international community, especially for the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic.

As a researcher who has followed Vietnam for many years, Ruvislei González Sáez, vice chairman of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association, appreciates the principles of building an international environment of peace, stability and mutual respect in Vietnam's foreign policy.
Although in some areas or economic indicators, Vietnam has not yet reached the level of a middle power, according to González, Vietnamese diplomacy has reached this level with efficiency when compared to other countries. This is reflected in the terms Vietnam held the ASEAN Chair (2010 and 2020).
The promotion of values and practices has contributed significantly to helping Vietnam increase the amount of foreign direct investment, creating more jobs for the country and the opportunity to access advanced technologies.
González believes that Vietnamese cultural diplomacy will also make great strides going forward contributing to overall foreign policy achievements, and helping international friends have a deeper awareness of Vietnam's identity.
The Vice-Chairman of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association said that it was the exchanges of the people that played a key role in continuing to tighten the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba with future generations.
"The deep mutual trust, the determination of the Party and State leaders and the special affection between the two peoples have been and will make the Vietnam-Cuba relationship be a model," Hernandez said.
