Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Tran Quang Tuyen emphasized that the opening of the Honorary Consular Office of Vietnam in Istanbul will support the work of protecting Vietnamese citizens. Located at the crossroads between Europe, Asia, and the Middle East-Africa, Istanbul has become the intersection of airline routes, where many Vietnamese are victims of lines sending people across Europe or are stuck at the Istanbul Airport, especially in the Covid-19 pandemic.
The opening of the Honorary Consular Office in Turkey also shows that the Vietnam-Turkey bilateral relationship continues to be maintained and promoted after 43 years of development since officially established in 1978.
