Vietnam's girl wins silver medal at Miss Earth’s swimsuit event

Khanh had previously won a gold medal for Asia & Oceania region in the national costume round on October 11.

Miss Earth is being held in the Philippines with the participation of 94 contestants from around the world. In the bikini sub-contest, they competed in three groups called Fire, Air and Water.

Khanh was a member of the Water Group, which consisted of 28 contestants. The gold and bronze medals went to Miss Mexico and Miss Bosni and Herzegovina.

Born in the southern province of Ben Tre, 23-year-old Khanh was the second runner-up at the Miss Sea Vietnam Global Beauty Pageant 2018 held on Phu Quoc Island in April. She is is 1.72m tall, weighs 51kg and measures 90-58-94.

Khanh is currently a student at the Curtin University Singapore, majoring in marketing, and will graduate early next year.

She is currently standing in second place overall behind Miss Portugal Telma Madeira.

This is the first time a Vietnamese representative has entered the top swimsuit round of Miss Earth, said Ngoc Tinh, a representative of the Leading Stars Project, the organisation introducing and accompanying Khanh at Miss Earth.

In these beauty pageants, the contestants’ advantages in the swimsuit and national costume competitions are important, offering them opportunities to enter the final rounds, Tinh added.

“We expected Khánh to achieve something at Miss Earth 2018. She has performed very well and made great efforts so far,” he said.

Khanh recently earned a gold medal for the Best National Costume from the Asia and Oceania regions at the Miss Earth 2018 pageant.

The Missosology website selects Vietnamese contestant Phuong Khanh among its top 10 hot picks for Miss Earth 2018. Miss Portugal leads the list with Phuong Khanh taking up second place, followed by the Colombian entrant in third place.

Phuong Khanh and other contestants are now preparing for the talent and evening gown events of the Miss Earth 2018 pageant.

In the talent event, Khanh will perform cai luong (reformed opera) to introduce Vietnamese culture to the world.

Khanh said that she is in good health and is ready to put on her best display.

The grand finale of Miss Earth 2018 is set to transpire in Manila, the Philippines on November 3./.
