The hot weather is forecast to continue baking northern and central provinces in the next 10 days, according National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

The low pressure in western areas and foehn effect cause high temperatures, hovering around 36-39C, in the northern region and provinces from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen.

From July 10-13, northern and central provinces are expected to suffer from intense heat, with temperature even exceeding 39C. Although the temperatures reduce during the following days, the hot weather still persists.

Statistics show since the beginning of this year, the average temperature of the whole country has been 1 to 2.5 degrees Celsius higher than the average level of previous years, and the upward trend is forecast to last till October this year.

Doctors have advised that parents maintain good hygiene, keep children properly hydrated along with a healthy diet. They have also said that children should be taken to hospitals and medical centres as soon as they show any abnormal health symptoms, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
