Vietnam's Scientific Rise: 9 Researchers in Top 10,000

Publisher Elsevier has just announced a list of the world's most influential scientists, compiled by a group of scientists from Stanford University (USA), selected based on the Scopus database.

Among Vietnamese scientists working regularly in the country, 9 scientists are ranked in the world's top 10,000 and 60 scientists are ranked in the world's top 100,000 most influential scientists in 2024.

This marks a significant increase from 2023, with 13 more Vietnamese scientists added to the list.

The nine Vietnamese scientists in the top 10,000 for 2024 include:

- Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc and Associate Professor Le Hoang Son from Vietnam National University, Hanoi

- Professor Tran Xuan Bach from Hanoi Medical University

- Professor Vo Xuan Vinh and Dr. Nguyen Phuc Canh from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City

- Dr. Tran Nguyen Hai and Dr. Hoang Nhat Duc from Duy Tan University

- Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan from Dong A University

- Dr. Pham Thai Binh from the University of Transport and Communications

Prof.Dr.Sc. Nguyen Dinh Duc, Chairman of the University Council of University of Engineering and Technology, Vietnam National University-Hanoi.

Some of these scientists, such as Associate Professor Le Hoang Son and Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc, have consistently appeared on the list for multiple years.

The 100,000 Influential People Ranking is based on the following indicators: scientific impact; total citations (excluding self-citations); Hirsch h-index; Schreiber hm-index; citations for articles published as a single author; citations for articles with first author, corresponding author, and last author…

Elsevier is considered the world's largest scientific publisher. The publisher, headquartered in the capital of the Netherlands, owns about 2,500 multidisciplinary scientific journals with a team of experts on the editorial board of up to 20,000 people. Each year, Elsevier "produces" about 420,000 peer-reviewed scientific articles, with nearly 1 billion downloads.
