Vietnam's Stunning Shots Honored at Drone Photo Awards
Photography works depicting diverse and colorful beauty along Vietnam have entered the top best photos at the Drone Photo Awards as part of the Siena Awards 2023, an international competition for stunning images.
First launched in 2015 within the international Siena Photo Awards, the Drone Photo Awards received around 14,000 photos from over 100 countries this year. In addition to drones, entries were captured from commercial airplanes, helicopters, balloons, parachutes, airships, kites and even rockets.
In 2023, the contest attracted thousands of entries from professional and amateur photographers from all over the world in 7 photo categories, photo series and video categories.
Drone Photo Awards results announced in the middle of June 2023, in the single photo category, there are four photos of Vietnam in the top best photos (Highly commended and commended). All winning photos and videos will be displayed and shown at Above Us Only Sky exhibition at the monastery of Saint Galgano in Tuscany, Italy, from July 8 to November 9, 2023.

Photographer Pham Huy Trung won the consolation prize in the Wildlife category, capturing two Bryde whales hunting together in August 2022 in the waters of De Gi, an unspoiled destination in Cat Khanh commune, Phu Cat district, more than 40 km from Quy Nhon city.

'Return' captured by Le Chi Trung was highly appreciated in the People category. He said the photo was taken in the downstream of Ky Lo River, Phu Yen province, on low tide days, after catching fish, people follow the shallow water to return home in the afternoon sunlight, creating a picture of idyllic life.
"During a stop at the wooden bridge, I used a flycam to observe the overall scene, and was surprised to discover the riverside sandbanks, especially the winding water with many strange shapes," said Le Chi Trung.

The photo 'Crossing the field' taken by Nguyen Sanh Quoc Huy in the People category, captures the women carrying the weeds returning after harvesting in Thang Binh district, Quang Nam province.

'Cyclones of ducks' in the People category were taken by Cao Ky Nhan in Tra O lagoon, Phu My district, Binh Dinh province. The lagoon area is about 1,200 ha, has a high level of biodiversity and rich aquatic resources, contributing to stabilizing the livelihoods of the communities living around the lagoon.
"People raise thousands of ducks, feed them twice a day, early morning and afternoon. When the owner calls out a familiar call, the ducks will gather and wait for food. After that, they will run around people. farmers, like a tornado," Nhan shared.

In the Series category, photographer Cao Ky Nhan also had 2 sets of 17 photos that were highly appreciated by the jury, including the set photo 'Colors of Vietnam', depicting the beauty of landscapes and craft villages. Vietnam is diverse and colorful on the S-shaped land. The water season in the northern highlands around May - June attracts tourists and photographers to admire. Some notable flood season destinations in Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province are Sang Ma Sao, Muong Hum and Den Sang.
