(VNF) – Vice President, General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Don Tuan Phong on March 27th held a reception for Head of Public Policy of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Quint Simon.

Talking about AWS's goal in Vietnam, representative of the company said, as an IT solution firm with office recently being set up in Vietnam (September 2017), AWS looks forward to offering effective solutions to ensure Vietnam's integration with global trend of technology, facilitate access to the world's huge resource of information, while still maintain the country’s privacy and control over its data.

At the moment, AWS is paying attention to assisting startups in Vietnam through providing effective, cost-saving solutions in terms of IT infrastructure in the early stage of business, she said.

Vice President Don Tuan Phong, for his part, shared the viewpoints of Simon on the significant role that information infrastructure play in ensuring and enhancing the prosperity and social stability, and appreciated AWS's willingness to support the development of Vietnam via the company's services.

According to the VUFO Vice President, charity and development issue are two prioritized areas in VUFO's works. Particularly, he expressed his hope that in the time to come, AWS will contribute practically to the development of Vietnam and the region through supporting the country's healthcare, education sector and dealing with post-war issues.

He emphasized, with a broad network of clients, including a number of business giants, AWS possesses great advantage in mobilizing enterprises' attention for social works, which is significant to fulfilling AWS's corporate social responsibilities (CSR).

Taking account of CSR will benefit not only the society, but also enhance the enterprise's credibility, he noted.

On the occasion, Vice President of VUFO also suggested some activities for AWS to practice CSR in Vietnam, including online fundraising and spending part of its revenue to donate to charitable organizations, needy groups and inpiduals.

For her part, Simon expressed her honor to know VUFO, a dedicated and credible authority promoting peace and development in Vietnam and strongly agreed that CSR is of great importance to the company.

As Head of Public Policy of AWS in ASEAN, she highlighted, despite the company is still at its early stage of development, AWS has already paid attention to CSR in the country.

In particular, she noted that as AWS expands its business in Vietnam, the company will also expand its contribution to the development of Vietnam, and hope to receive supports from VUFO in this endeavor.

The contribution to the country will not only be made through AWS's research and development of new products, but also through direct involvement in community works, as suggested by Vice President Don Tuan Phong, she added./.
