The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) on March 27 organized a friendship gathering in Ho Chi Minh City, with the participation of nearly 200 guests consisting of Consuls General, representatives of the Consular delegation in the city, international organizations, foreign non-governmental organizations, friends, partners and representatives of VUFO's member organizations.

Speaking at the meeting, VUFO President Phan Anh Son said that under the leadership of the Party, the joint efforts and consensus of the entire political system and people, Vietnam has maintain and continue to achieve significant achievements in 2023 in socio-economic development.

In particular, the VUFO's people-to-people activities in 2023 will be very closely linked, effectively contributing to high-level foreign affairs activities of the Party and State leaders, contributing to creating a social foundation, actively promote friendly relations and cooperation between Vietnam and other countries.

The VUFO sent 30 delegations out, welcomed 32 visting delegations, and organized nearly a thousand on-site activities both bilaterally and multilaterally, at both central and local levels; including the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and 16 countries; exchanging and working with many high-level delegations from countries visiting and working in Vietnam.

Regarding the work of mobilizing foreign non-governmental aid, the value of aid reached nearly USD 228 million for programs non-profit programs and projects, development support in Vietnam.

“The above results are achieved thanks to the attention and direction of the Party and State leaders, and the guidance and coordination of ministries and branches; the solidarity and consensus of the entire system of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, especially the interest, support, and coordination of diplomatic agencies, international organizations, and foreign businesses, and foreign non-governmental organizations in Vietnam," VUFO Presient Phan Anh Son emphasized.

On behalf of the Consular Delegation in HCM City, Kho Ngee Seng Roy, Singaporean Consul General highlighted the achievements Vietnam has achieved in recent years, especially especially in successfully organizing many international-scale events, enhancing the strategic partnership between Vietnam and many countries and important partners in promoting peace and prosperity in the region and the world.

On this occasion, Consul General Kho Ngee Seng Roy thanked the VUFO for their efforts to cultivate and strengthen the friendship between the Vietnamese people and the international community.
